PATNODE LAB

Welcome! The Patnode lab studies the microbes that live in the human intestine. This community of organisms affects our metabolism, our immune system, and our susceptibility to infections. We are currently trying to understand how beneficial and harmful gut bacteria compete with one another for nutrients in the foods we eat, and how immune cells influence the outcomes of these competitions. We hope this knowledge will give rise to technologies for manipulating the intestinal ecosystem to improve human health.
